Sheteka Alexander understands that real-life challenges can shape us — but they do not have to define our future.
Becoming a teen parent gave Sheteka an early understanding of the challenges young women can face while navigating adulthood, motherhood and major life decisions. Along the way, she learned the importance of positive role models, mentorship, guidance and having someone in your corner.
Her own experiences with tremendous personal loss, grief and perseverance helped inspire G.I.R.L.S. — Girls In Real Life Situations. Her vision is to create the kind of supportive environment where young women feel heard, valued, encouraged and empowered to ask for help and pursue their potential.

G.I.R.L.S. is proud to support a cancer-awareness initiative with Tennessee linebacker Arion Carter, connecting his performance on the field with a commitment to helping bring greater awareness and support to those affected by cancer.
The campaign represents something at the heart of G.I.R.L.S.: taking a real-life situation and turning it into an opportunity to encourage others, give back and make a difference.
